“Save lives by food” and “Save families people affected by leprosy & general disability from Sri Lankan financial crisis by short term agricultural food protection”

The situation has taken a devastating turn for people already struggling to put food on the table during the COVID-19 pandemic & now financial crisis. It’s even worse vulnerable households, those without steady work and those already suffering a loss of income by leprosy & general disabilities. As we KKM team & Members of the Leprosy Association we hold grave concerns for the most vulnerable communities in our project areas – people affected by leprosy & general disability already living below the poverty line who are most affected by the loss of livelihoods, food shortages, and the spiraling cost of essential items. “The emergency appeal that we have launched in support of the Sri Lankan needy community. KKM has plans to encourage people to involve in small-scale home garden development through this dry ration program to food protection for this long term starvation impacts. KKM has selected 420 families from very vulnerable people affected by leprosy & general disability for this dry ration program. 252 families come from People affected by leprosy & 168 come from general disability people affected by mental illness. As family members jointly help and encourage starting up half acre gardening in this emergency situation. By supplying 8620 Rs (21.55) per month of basic food items continuously for 4 months and making sure they are interested and caring for their gardens. This will produce enough yields for them to start living. Living in their home garden will help to face challenges with courage and strength under this situation. Objective ;Save lives 420 vulnerable families of the people affected by leprosy & general disability & develop 420 small scale home gardens for self & community food protection in project areas. Encourage a family involving gardening with 86.2 £ within four month with future food protection.
