The Food for Work project has achieved a great success. It is also helpful in promoting agricultural activities and improving the productivity of the land on a continuous basis. As a result of our team conducting 2 days training for 36 farmers, creating 10 trainers and presented honouring certificates for 36 farmers.
Food for work program is moving forward successfully in Jaffna district. 72 families are directly benefited through this scheme and involved in agricultural activities in Jaffna district. I have witnessed 62 families successfully farming in 110 acres of land. 222 families are living happily in Jaffna even throughout the economic crisis. I realised the importance of KKMs Food for Work project and given awareness and training on sustainable agriculture to the community. Through this project enabling people to live a stress-free life, eating healthy natural food without any restrictions.

In Vavunia Chettikulam region, the country seed bank is being opened and implemented for the first time with the aim of preserving country seeds.

I am Amirthalingam......
I am Amirthalingam living in Chankanai with my wife and 5 children. We are always a happy healthy family. I have been farming all my life, working tirelessly in the farm day and night. With my savings from the farm, I was able to give marriage for two of my children.I have trained all my
children ecofriendly farming, teaching the important role of being a responsible farmer, values, growing own food waste less and eat variety of healthy food and develop younger farming generations. As a result of the present social economic crisis in our country where we could witness the impact in the community, struggling to make a living. Restriction and shortage of fuel and other basic commodities, my family never gave up on farming, even though it was a struggle and stressing we were managing our living with the minimum natural resources We were so lucky, when FOOD FOR WORK team from KKM approached us with a promising opportunities of hope offering emergency dry food packs which was a relief and highly appreciated. I am proud to say they gave me an opportunity to join the farmers community group where we as farmers finding new creative ways to support and protect each other during any crisis in our life.

I am Selvarasa living with my family in Panduvetti. I am a passionate farmer and farming is our family lifesaver. I have leased out a good fertile land for five years growing paddy and verities of grains onions and chillies. As well I do garden around my home. I have many seasonal vegetables and long-term
fruit trees in my home garden. I am able to generate a good income from my farming products to support my family’s health and wellbeing. Even with the present economic crisis in our country, I worked tirelessly without losing hope for a sustainable production to support my family and the community. Watching the significant impact on the wellbeing of lower income community and a great damage of the people is heartbreaking.
My farming business started slowing down and I was struggling to make a living. I started experiencing stress, anxiety and fear of our health and wellbeing. When the FOOD FOR WORK team of KKM approached us empowering with a supply of emergency relief dry food packs for four months, it was a huge
relief to my family. We were thankful for their support ensuring us with food security. They initiated a local farmers community group where I became a member. Supporting each other farmers and families, sharing our views of hopes for a sustainable farming practice and strategies to overcome any aspects of crisis in the future.
